Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens

Founded by Thelma and Charles Mercer and preserved as a Harris County park in 1974, Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens is a 393-acre oasis in Humble. The east side features 60 acres of themed gardens with vibrant plant collections, while the west side offers scenic trails, the Jake Roberts Maple Collection, and unique natural areas like the Bald Cypress Swamp.

Led by a passionate team of experts, Mercer is a botanical haven for visitors, the horticultural industry, and the scientific community.

Know Before You Go

  • Dogs or other pets are not allowed in the garden, except service dogs. Dogs on leashes are allowed in the ARBORETUM side of Mercer only.
  • Balloons, confetti, and similar, and glass containers are not allowed.
  • Alcoholic beverages, outside food and picnics are not allowed, except at designated picnic tables.
  • Bicycles, skates, skateboards, frisbees, sports equipment, jogging and swimming are not allowed in the gardens, including the parking lot.
  • Children under the age of 16 should be supervised while in the garden. No climbing on structures, water features and similar.
  • ACCESSIBILITY: Most garden areas are accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. Please call ahead to request special accommodations or to reserve a wheelchair.
